Top 10 Tuesday – Longest Books I’ve Ever Read

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book tag that was run by The Broke and the Bookish but has now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a different bookish theme those deep-seated desires to list! Anyone is welcome to join in on their blog, in the comments or any other way.

I’ve gotten out of the habit of doing TTT lately but quite liked this weeks topic on the longest books I’ve ever read. At first, I thought I hadn’t read many long books but looking through my Goodreads ‘read’ shelf revealed that I’ve actually read quite a few books that are 500+ pages! As there are a few books in series where the authors are determined to kill their readers with books as big as bricks, I’ve only included the longest book in the series to prevent this list being dominated by A Song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, and The Illuminae Files.

  1. Ooh, nice post! It’s funny but I tend to forget how long certain books were like OotP or Breaking Dawn, because as a kid and teen I LOVED really long books. Meanwhile as an adult, I don’t reach for anything above 500 pages terribly often and I don’t know why that is, but I need to fix it. 😂

    1. Haha thanks! It felt nice to join in with TTT again. At first I almost didn’t do this week’s because I was convinced that I haven’t read very many long books, but clearly I have, I had just forgotten how huge they are!

I was definitely the same. I used to love reading big books but not so much as an adult, I remember picking up Illuminae for the first time and being like DAMN, RIP me, but it’s ok because most of it is just the layout :’)

  2. Seeing your list, I think I’d find the same thing on my goodreads – so many books are longer than I imagine. Especially OotP! Though I definitely remember Breaking Dawn being a beast. 😂
