State of the ARC is a monthly meme at Avalinah’s Books meant to motivate you to finish up all your long overdue ARCs (Advanced or Early Reader Copies).
Soo… after posting last months State of the ARC I had made an agreement to myself that I was not going to request any more ARCs because I already had a bunch of ARCs to catch up on from earlier in the year, as well as newer ones sent to me by a publisher. Well, that didn’t happen and I somehow ended up acquiring another 7 ARCs (2 of which arrived today).
Although I did acquire another 7 books I did also read 3 ARCs during October as well, so I am making progress and the ARCs I received were ones that I really wanted! Here’s a breakdown of what I’ve read and received over the past month, and what I’m planning to read during November.
In the Vanishers’ Palace by Aliette de Bodard – ★★★★☆
Invasions by Calvin Gimpelevich – ★★★★☆
Creatures: The Legacy of Frankenstein ed. by David Thomas Moore – ★★★★☆
I really enjoyed all three of the ARCs I read for October. One thing I do want to try and do better at for future reading months though is balancing older ARCs with newer ones. All three of these I received during October and read and reviewed them straight away to make sure that a) they didn’t get neglected and b) they were being published in October. I feel guilty about older ARCs I have still waiting to be reviewed though!
The Young Explorer’s Adventure Guide Volume 5, The Boneless Mercies, and Shades Within Us: Tales of Migration and Fractured Borders were all from NetGalley. The Dinosaur Hunters and A Spy in the Deep were received directly from the author, Patrick Samphire. And Worlds Seen in Passing and American Hippo were sent from Tor! I am very excited about all of these and incredibly thankful to the publishers and authors for sending them to me ❤
November ARCs TBR
Considering what I said literally a few lines ago about balancing older ARCs with newer ARCs, I have done a terrible job of choosing my ARCs for November as 3 of them are brand new. But I did choose my ARCs for this month according to the #mythothon that I’m doing so I had to match them up to particular categories! I’m not sure if I’ll get through all of these anyway as I really want to prioritize older owned books that I want to catch up with before the end of the year.
How is your ARC pile looking this month?
Have you received any ARCs recently that you’re really excited about or are there older ARCs you want to get to?
