Have I Played This Yet? | C & D

Welcome to the B side of Have I Played This Yet? In case you missed the introductory postHIPTYis a series started by Tecsie where she goes through her games alphabetically and talks about whether she’s played them or not. It’s a great way to hold myself accountable for all of the games I own that I haven’t yet played as well as inspire me to get playing them.

A | B

As I hardly have any games beginning with C, here’s a double whammy of C & D games for today!

Cities: Skylines
Platform:
PC (Steam)
Status:
24 minutes played

I got Cities: Skylines in a humble bundle and was really curious about it. However, I found it so difficult to understand and play that I ended up giving up quickly. I even resorted to reading tutorials to try to grasp the basics of the game but couldn’t even get past the tutorial. This is something I don’t see myself playing ever again.

I bought Dead by Daylight to play with one of my friends although we only ever played it together once. I never asked but I’m not sure if it has anything to do with my SHRIEKING in fear whilst playing it. We never played together after that and I haven’t been brave enough to play it alone. So yeah… if anyone ever wants to team up and get our scare on then let me know :’)

Dead Island: Definitive Edition
Platform:
PC (Steam)
Status:
4 hours

My play time for Dead Island is a little bit misleading as I played a lot more of the game on my ex’s steam account many years ago when Dead Island first came out. I didn’t manage to get very far on my own edition, I can’t remember why I think I got stuck, but I do enjoy the whole aesthetics and game mechanics of the game and am intrigued by where the story was heading.

Deadpool
Platform:
PC (Steam)
Status:
Never Played

I bought this game back in 2013 when I actually had some interest in Deadpool. That interest has since disintegrated. I have no interest in Deadpool and no interest in this game and yet it shall forever live in my Steam library >=[

The Deed
Platform:
PC (Steam)
Status:
Never Played

I bought this in a little Steam bundle when it was on offer with the Space Pilgrim games, a cool little Indie series set in space, and the Deed looks very similar to the Space Pilgrim games but horror rather than sci-fi. As I really enjoyed the SP games I still want to give this one a go.

Deltarune
Platform:

Status:
Never Played

I got Deltarune chapter 1 for free on the Switch store just before it was released but I still haven’t gotten around to playing Undertale (although I’ve watched a playthrough of it) so I kept it aside thinking I would play Undertale first, then promptly forgot about it!

Detroit: Become Human
Platform:
PS4
Status:
Completed (1 playthrough)

Detroit: Become Human is one of my all time favourite games and is basically the entire inspiration behind my PhD. Unsurprisingly, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about this game which I’m looking forward to re-playing and delving into in more depth for my PhD!

Deus Ex: Human Revolution
Platform:
Xbox 360
Status:
Completed (1 playthrough)

Another game that I get to look at for my PhD, I loved my playthrough of Deus Ex. I am here for all of its transhumanism, anti-cybercorporations and cyberpunkness.

Dishonored
Platform:
Xbox 360/PC (Steam)
Status:
Not finished

I got soooo close to finishing Dishonored on Xbox but I got stuck at a particularly difficult section and then my Xbox broke… I rebought it on Steam shortly before Dishonored 2 thinking I would be able to replay it in time but again, didn’t get round to it. I keep meaning to pick it back up but not sure when I will ever find time at this point haha

Divinity: Original Sin 2
Platform:
PC (Steam)
Status:
38 hours played

This is my current play which has been described by a lot of people as a D&D video game. If you like role-play, fantasy and stories about gods then this is the game for you. Even better, it’s a kickstarted game and was developed by a small indie company in Belgium. My one qualm with this game is it can be quite clunky in terms of game mechanics and can be frustratingly difficult at times (I’ve had to play on story mode and still die a lot).

Dragon Age: Origins
Platform:
PS3/PC (Steam)
Status:
Completed (1 playthrough) plus 26 hours on Steam

I hadn’t even heard of the DA series until a few years ago at my first ever Nine Worlds convention and I am sooooo thankful to the people who mentioned it because it is literally one of my fave gaming series ever and reintroduced me to BioWare. My first DAO playthrough was with an elven rogue who romanced Alistair/Zevran/Leliana, and my second was as a Dwarven Noble who romanced Morrigan.

Dragon Age 2
Platform:
PS4
Status:
Completed (1 playthrough)

I’ve only ever played through DA2 once as it’s possibly my least favourite of the games even though I love the story and the companions. My only playthrough so far has consisted of a female rogue Hawke, closely modeled on my Hero of Ferelden to insinuate some kind of connection between them, and she romanced Isabela ❤

Dragon Age Inquisition
Platform:
PS4
Status:
Completed (1 complete playthrough, 2 half playthroughs)

I actually cannot explain how much I love DAI, it actually makes me emotional anytime I think about it. One of my fave stories to tell is that I got about halfway through my first playthrough as a (surprise, surprise) female rogue Elf but willingly went back, restarted the entire game and played my first ever DA male character so that I could romance Dorian (love of my life, sun and moon, etc). I started playing another playthrough briefly as a female Qunari who was a complete badass, but I want to replay to do a Solasmance soon.

One of my best friends gifted me Dream Daddy shortly after it came out so that I could live that Dream Dad life. I have some Thoughts about representation in the game that I would love to write about at some point beyond my article on Trans rep, but its a pretty fun game and I’m happy it helped to spark more interest in visual novels.

That’s finally all of the C & D games, I had a lot more games starting with D than I thought but I’m happy to see I’ve played of them! Now I just actually need to get round to playing the remaining ones, once my Divinity hole is finished.

Let me know your thoughts if you’ve played any of these or any ones you’d like to play

  1. Yaas to all the Dragon Ages ❤ Also I'm horrible at Cities: Skylines too but I've come to the conclusion that it's most fun when you just give yourself unlimited money so you can just mess around with stuff and laugh when you manage to cause an insane traffic jam by accident lmao

  3. It’s weird. I’ve got more games beginning with C than D! Divinity is my current play too, having only just started it, and I’m a little bit obsessed with it. I didn’t realise it was Kickstarted. That’s pretty incredible! I’ve been playing on explorer mode, and dying more than I’d care to admit!

Do you mind if I ask what your dissertation is on? It sounds super interesting!
