Top 10 Tuesday | A Love Letter to All the Owned Books I Still Haven’t Read

Top 10 Tuesday is a weekly book tag that was run by The Broke and the Bookish but has now moved to That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a different bookish theme those deep-seated desires to list! Anyone is welcome to join in on their blog, in the comments or any other way.

– Top 10 Backlist Books I Own & Still Need to Read –

Now, this is a TTT prompt I can really get behind because, like most of you, my owned TBR list is RIDICULOUS. I try really hard to not let it get too out of control but even so my evergrowing book hoard is reaching a new level. As we’re showing some love to backlist books this week all of the books featured below are ones that were released prior to 2018, physical books that I own, and a combination of ones I’m most excited to read as well as those that have been here since the dawn of time.

– Top 10 Recent Discoveries –

Once again I’m straying away from the weekly prompt, this week it was villains, to talk about books that I’ve recently discovered instead as there’s only so much I can talk about the books I’ve read! Although I try to keep my Goodreads TBR shelf in tip top shape, to stop it getting as out of control as it used to be, over the past few months I’ve come across some books that have really peaked my interest and just had to be added. Here are 10 of my favourites and ones I can’t wait to read.

This week’s prompt for TTT was actually “Bookstores/Libraries I’ve Always Wanted to Visit”, but as it’s Black History Month in the UK this month I wanted to give you all some recommendations for that instead. Last year for a TTT prompt on favourite British fiction, I shared a list of diverse British fiction in response to the numerous lists which focused overwhelmingly on whitewashed and middle-class Britishness.

I’ve gotten out of the habit of doing TTT lately but quite liked this weeks topic on the longest books I’ve ever read. At first, I thought I hadn’t read many long books but looking through my Goodreads ‘read’ shelf revealed that I’ve actually read quite a few books that are 500+ pages! As there are a few books in series where the authors are determined to kill their readers with books as big as bricks, I’ve only included the longest book in the series to prevent this list being dominated by A Song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, and The Illuminae Files.

Top 10 Tuesday | Genres I Hated at School

I haven’t done a TTT for a very long time and hadn’t been planning on doing one today. However, after reading Kate’s fantastic ‘best contemporaries set in school‘ TTT list (and her inquiring so nicely as to whether I was doing it this week) I thought I’d join in this week. The prompt for this week was ‘back to school/learning freebie’ and thought it’d be interesting to share with you all some of my most hated genres (and books!) that I actually really love now!

So, let’s get started…
